Stampotique and Stencils

Jane over at Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog
has asked us to use our stencils and a Stampotique stamp.

Well since starting mixed media and art journaling, my collection of stencils has grown....and more on my wish list :)

The background is a few different yummy colours of Dylusion sprays which I had done a few weeks ago.
Just love these. The colours are so vivid.
I chose to use my hexagon and circle stencils. The 3 large hexagons were created using black big brush marker. Highlighted with white charcoal pencil. The coloured shapes in the centre of the hexagons is bookbinding tape I have had forever! Love how it makes the hexagon 'pop'

I sprayed some smaller hexagons with black Dylusion spray on the right side of page. I then turned the stencil over and lay it down on the left side of page to give a negative pattern.
With the circle stencil I swiped some black paint with a wet wipe. Then I turned it over and placed it down on the other side of page to again leave a negative pattern.

I have used 5 Stampotique stamps, washi tape and the quote is from a Dylusions set.

Pan Pastels

Last Sunday, my friend Lynne and I finally got around to playing with Pan Pastels.
In the December 2012 issue of the Craft Stamper  is an easy and fun Masterclass for Pan Pastels.
We did the five techniques shown onto large tags.

Tonight I decided to do a journal page using all five techniques we learnt.

This was a quick and relaxing page to create. The hardest part was choosing which colours to use...they are all yummy!
These Pan Pastels have been sitting in my cupboard. and forgotten. Not any more!
Have you re discovered any art supplies forgotten about?

Stampotique - Use Text

This journal page is my entry for Stampotique challenge SDC88 to use text.

I sprayed a few colours of ink sprays for background. Adhered some left over stamped strips. Some of it has alpha text. Next added some strips of washi tape and torn ,scrunched text tissue paper.
Applied gesso and gelatos to the strips of paper.

Paper pieced 'Eric' by stamping first onto scrap card and then onto a dictionary page.

Spider wings coloured with gelato and outlined with a pitt pen.
Stamped a Stampotique postcard stamp randomly on the background.
Stampotique 'Wee Owl' is so cute...had to have a family of five :)

Doodled a frame around page with black pitt pen and grey gelato.

Gelatos Canvas

I recently purchased a set of Gelatos in 28 yummy colours. These are not edible!
They are luscious acid free pigment sticks. They glide on creamy vibrant colour and blend beautifully with or without water.

I was inspired by Jill Foster's gorgeous canvas and fun tutorial on utubehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV5Sfwra-KI

My canvas is done in a fun Steampunk theme. I used the same background technique as Jill,. but used black ink for stamping  instead of colour.

Loving these stamps! The lady is my favourite. She is part of a new collage stamp from Papermania Urban Stamps. The others are a close second from Kaszazz.

Added some metal.

Another close up.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and your comments are appreciated :)

Journal Page

I have recently dicovered how fun and addictive mixed media/art journaling can be!

This page was inspired by a prompt on 'Art Journalers' face book page. The prompt being

'Masquerading as a normal person can be exhausting!'

The first thing that came to mind was these quirky and fabulous Stampotique characters....I love them all!

For the background I used Dylusion sprays...another new addiction! Will my list of 'must haves' ever get shorter?

This page is my entry for the Stampotique Designer's Challenge SDC81 to create a Journal cover or page.

Happy New Year!
Just a quick post to make sure my poor neglected blog is still working.
Life in 2012 has been up and down with hubby still battling cancer.
I have just recently been having a dabble with mixed media and art journaling. I am loving it.
Have chosen the word CREATE for 2013. .
Made a promise to myself that no matter what this year brings, that I will create something at least once a week. Even just 'playing' in my art journal.
Do you have a word or quote for 2013?
